The project would renovate and install a new Positron Emission Tomography and Computed Tomography PET/CT system on the 2nd floor of 26585 Agoura Road Medical Office Building (MOB). The scope of work shall include the demolition of improvements in the way of the proposed work; installation of equipment and chiller, anchoring, framing, lead shielding, new casework, and new sinks; modifications to building mechanical and electrical systems to support the program, including ductwork, piping, testing, and balancing; structural upgrades of floors below; addition of medical gas piping; and repairs to building finishes impacted by the work. Contractor shall remove the existing exterior window during PET CT installation. Once the new PET CT is in position to be installed, Contractor shall re-install the exterior window system and seal from rain. The new PET/CT shall be furnished by the University. The project consists of an upgrade to the existing software and components of the end-of-life Skidata parking equipment throughout Medical Building and Medical Plaza parking structures (MP100, 200 and 300), Jules Stein, Ronald Reagan Hospital and Luskin Conference Center and the provision of additional pay machines as well as new License Plate Recognition (LPR) at each entry and exit lane at every structure. The upgraded system shall include a camera and light with wiring in conduit set back approximately. 50’ from the existing gate arms in order to capture the license plates for faster processing upon exiting. Medical Plaza level B1 shall be re-striped (areas adjacent to MP100, 200 and 300) to integrate all parking stalls onto the same ticketing system (Skidata) with traffic reconfiguration. Unused booths where personnel were previously staffed and stationed shall be removed. The Skidata systems currently allow for operation of the parking gate arms, ticket dispensers and receivers and payment system used for parking in the project locations mentioned. The system also provides cash and credit card payments for customers visiting UCLA to ensure a smooth process entering and leaving the site. The Skidata system houses the main server for communication and transactions. Due to the high traffic use by patients, visitors and staff, all work shall be limited to nights and weekends. The work consists of the renovation of Spaulding Field. Located immediately east of the Wasserman Football Center, Spaulding Field currently consists of two artificial turf, 60-yard practice fields oriented west to east. With UCLA's move to the Big Ten Conference, the football team will play on opposing teams' fields with natural grass, creating a need for a natural grass practice field. The project will renovate approximately 160,000 square feet of practice space to create a natural grass, full 100-yard field oriented north to south and two smaller artificial turf practice fields oriented west to east. Contractor shall remove the existing turf, provide a new irrigation and drainage system for the grass field, and provide artificial and natural grass on the fields. Overall Description: The 5 story Medical Office Building (MOB) is located at 5901 West Olympic Boulevard, approximately 6 miles east of the UCLA Campus and is approximately 95,607 GSF. The proposed project would include seismic improvements on all floor levels and interior tenant improvements of approximately 34,000 GSF of space on floors 1-3. The MOB has a current Seismic Performance Rating of V. Upon completion of the work, the MOB would achieve a Seismic Performance Rating of IV or better and bring the facility into compliance with the UC Seismic Safety Policy. The proposed seismic work will include the installation of approximately 34 seismic dampers placed at specified locations on the inside perimeter of the building's exterior walls. The dampers will be installed diagonally and attached at the bottom and top of the existing steel column bays requiring incidental fireproofing at beam and column modifications. Steel reinforcing plates will be added to existing steel beams and columns to support the installation of seismic damper brackets. Additional seismic reinforcing is required at the existing rooftop mechanical penthouse and at the building foundation at locations along the 1st floor seismic dampers. In addition to the seismic work, work would also include partial restoration of interior building finishes impacted by the installation of the seismic braces. Limited MEP investigation and safe-off work is anticipated. Site and building accessibility improvements would include path of travel upgrades along the city sidewalk and building entrance, installation of new ADA handrails and guardrails at existing interior stairs. New accessible signage, restrooms and a drinking fountain are also anticipated.
