Subject to conditions prescribed by the University of California, Los Angeles, sealed bids for a Combined Bid, Lump Sum Subcontract are invited from Concrete subcontractors (hereinafter “Subcontractors”) for the following work:

CHS SEISMIC CORRECTION AND FIRE SAFETY:

Seismic and Fire Life Safety corrections to the 7 level Southeast Wing, 7 level School of Medicine East/Vivarium, and the 7 level Biomedical Library in the Center for the Health Sciences (CHS). Seismic correction work includes selective structural strengthening including Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) wrapping of structural elements, cast in place concrete and exterior and interior shotcrete shear walls. Fire Life Safety correction work includes both Fire Suppression and Fire Alarm work upgrades. Fire Suppression work includes a new fire-main sprinkler loop expansion and new vertical wet standpipes. Fire alarm work includes the infrastructure for a new replacement fire alarm system.

The scope of work to complete the seismic corrections and non-structural upgrades will include the removal, replacement and repair of building systems, elements, and finishes obstructing the proposed work. Additional work includes the abatement of hazardous materials, exterior brick and masonry repair, and code upgrades to existing door hardware, and toilet facilities. The buildings will remain occupied and operational during construction and require the coordination and staging of occupants. All work will be sequenced and phased and all work will be performed off-hours.

The Anticipated Contract Value of this project is: $40,000,000.00

CHS – SOM WEST SEISMIC RENOVATION:

Seismic and Fire/life safety corrections to the School of Medicine West (SOM-W), Brain Research Institute and REED buildings and subterranean levels in the Center for the Health Sciences (CHS). Seismic correction work includes selective structural strengthening including Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) wrapping of structural elements, cast in place concrete and interior shotcrete.

Fire Life Safety correction work includes both Fire Suppression and Fire Alarm work upgrades. Fire Suppression work includes an expansion of the existing fire-main sprinkler loop and new vertical wet standpipes within the REED building. The work will also include the resupply to the existing lower levels within CHS from the main fire loop located on the first floor. Additionally, the existing fire main loop will be interconnected between the Semel Institute and CHS South Tower along the 1st floor bridge. Fire alarm work includes the infrastructure and backbone for a new replacement fire alarm system, within the subterranean levels of the CHS complex, School of Medicine West, REED and Brain Research Institute.

Additional work includes relocation of existing utilities obstructing seismic correction work; tenant improvements, accessibility upgrades to toilet facilities, drinking fountains, doors and hardware; signage, control panels and handrails. Selective demolition of walls, ceilings and floor finishes to accommodate the structural repair will be required in addition to the restoration and installation of new interior finishes.

The buildings will remain occupied and operational during construction and require the coordination and staging of occupants. All work will be sequenced and phased and all work will be performed off-hours.

The Anticipated Contract Value of this project is: $20,000,000.00

The University has bid and awarded (2) CM at Risk Contracts to PCL Construction Services, Inc., (hereafter "CM/Contractor"). CM/Contractor is responsible for bidding and awarding all subsequent subcontractor packages for each project, including this package. The successful Subcontractor Bidder shall sign a Subcontract Agreement for each project directly with CM/Contractor, and shall be bound by all the terms of the contracts between University and CM/Contractor. Refer to “Exhibit K – UCLA – CM/Contractor Agreement,” which contains the contracts between University and CM/Contractor, attached to the subcontract bidding documents and incorporated by this reference.

BID PACKAGE No. 3 - CONCRETE:

Concrete Bid Package includes all labor, material and equipment including all formwork, drilling and epoxy of rebar, all concrete and placement of concrete for all cast-in-place concrete. Additional work includes seismic bolting of precast parapet; grouting of existing concrete beams at expansion joints; all excavation of underside of slab on grade to top of footing as required by the work; export of all spoils, and provision of scaffolding for all concrete, rebar and shotcrete work.

NOTE: Shotcrete work is bid as Bid Package #5, but provision of all scaffolding for Shotcrete work is included in this Bid Package #3. The estimated construction cost of this bid package is:

Subject to conditions prescribed by the University of California, Los Angeles, sealed bids for a Job Order Contract contract are invited for the following work:

University seeks to hire a contractor to self-perform without subcontractors single-trade flooring construction work that will be delivered by Job Order Contracting (JOC). This is stand-alone flooring work which will not be combined with other trades. A list of all University Apartment buildings applicable to this work is contained in the bidding documents.

Applicable flooring materials will include: broadloom carpet, carpet tile, carpet pad, tackless strips, tiled or planked resilient flooring, sheet rolled resilient flooring, seaming or welding rods, wall base molding (wood or resilient), wall shoe base, metal edging, rubber, vinyl, or metal transitions, wood transitions, adhesives, floor sealants, floor waterproofing, underlayments, rubber stair treads or treading, metal thresholds, toilet installation accessories, floor drain covers, caulking, concrete sealers, ceramic and stone tile and grout, and all other items necessary to complete the work.

As described in more details in the Bidding Documents, flooring work shall include any or all of the following as specified on a job order by job order basis: demolition/removal of existing flooring and other ancillary materials; recycling of removed carpet as specified and in accordance with manufacturers' requirements; preparation of existing floor to receive new material; installation of new flooring related materials furnished by Contractor or University, as applicable. Contractor shall store in a bonded warehouse all flooring material either previously purchased by University or purchased by Contractor and used under this contract. Contractor shall arrange to pick up current inventories from previous contractor and store in a bonded warehouse. Contractor shall furnish monthly reports of current inventories of material purchased, stored, used and recycled.

The value of each Job Order performed will be between $1.00 and $200,000.00.

The Job Order Contract will have a Maximum Contract Value of $1,000,000.00 for the 1-year Base Term, and $1,300,000.00 during each 1-year Option Term, if exercised by University.

The University seeks to hire a contractor to perform heating ventilation and air conditioning construction work on an "as needed" basis that will be delivered by Unit Price Job Order (UPJO), and occurring on the UCLA Westwood campus as well as off-campus facilities owned by the University. As described in more detail in the Bidding Documents, work under the UPJO will be limited to the following:

Heating ventilation and air conditioning construction work related to Minor Improvement Projects as well as work which includes repairs of, or alterations to, buildings, structures, or facilities to continue their usability at the designed level of service. Each Job Order shall have at least 51% of the work within the advertised license classification specified herein. Work outside said license classification may be self-performed by Contractor when said work is considered incidental and supplemental to the performance of the work in the craft for which the specialty contractor is licensed and is essential to the accomplishment of the work in which the contractor is classified. In such cases, the value of said incidental and supplemental work shall not exceed 5% of the Job Order Sum.

If the work outside the Contractor’s license classification exceeds 5% of the Job Order Sum, then Contractor must either hold the appropriate additional specialty license classification or subcontract the work to an appropriately licensed subcontractor. Refer to Exhibit 21 of the bidding documents for work excluded from this UPJO.

The total combined cost for all Job Orders issued will not exceed the Maximum Contract Value of $4,000,000.00 during the 1-year Base Term and $4,000,000.00 during each 1-year Option Term, if exercised by University. When the work of a job consists only of the trade of this UPJO, the cost of any individual Job Order Authorization will be from $50,000.00 to $500,000.00. When the work of a job consists of multiple trades, the cost of any individual Job Order Authorization for this UPJO will be from $500.00 to $500,000.00.

The Project will construct a 63,000 GSF building addition to the Anderson School of Management. The new construction will comprise approximately 63,000 GSF of classroom, event space and administrative offices as well as the seismic upgrade of the 339,000 SF Parking Structure 5. The new building will have (1) 200-person classroom and (3) 90-person classrooms, a central organizing atrium, and entrances at parking structure drop off as well as the Briskin Family Plaza. The seismic upgrade will include work on all levels of the occupied parking structure as well as new foundation work for the new addition. Interior finishes will include carpet, linoleum and sheet vinyl flooring, paint and casework. The Project will provide telephone and communications connectivity conduit and cabling, cable television, and a security system at building entry doors. The scope of work will include limited building demolition, excavation and construction of new seismic sheer walls and foundation footings; new building construction including elevators, a raked floor classroom, atrium(s) event space(s) and the Admissions and Dean's suite of offices, provision of domestic water, fire water, sewer, gas, electrical, AV, security and telecommunications utilities; installation of paving, landscaping, irrigation, site drainage, parking structure waterproofing, a complete lighting plan; signage and graphics package; and installation of fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems. Additional work includes code review, waterproofing detailing and acoustic studies, daylighting, energy modeling and LEED certification.
