The Department of Psychology in the Division of Life Sciences proposes to renovate and reconfigure Rooms 3216, 3218, 3218A, 3218B, 3218C, and 3232, totaling approximately 1,935 gsf (1,825 asf), on the third floor of the Life Science Building (LSB) to relocate wet and dry lab teaching functions currently located at Pritzker Hall. The renovated space would accommodate a classroom, a teaching assistant office, a dishwasher room, a preparation area, and storage to better support instructional needs and increase student classroom capacity from 24 to 40. The LSB is a seven-story, 207,106 gsf (122,068 asf) building constructed in 1954. The proposed scope of work includes interior demolition; modification of interior walls and doors; new flooring, ceilings, and wall finishes; new laboratory equipment and furniture; and modifications to the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire alarm, fire sprinkler, lighting, security, and communications systems to support the new program. Restroom accessories would be removed and reinstalled, and elevator controls and signage would be upgraded to comply with current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. |
