The University seeks to hire a contractor to perform asphalt construction work on an "as needed" basis that will be delivered by Unit Price Job Order (UPJO), and occur on the UCLA Westwood campus as well as off-campus facilities owned by the University. As described in more detail in the Bidding Documents, work under the UPJO will be limited to the following: Asphalt construction work related to Minor Capital Improvement Projects as well as work which includes repairs of, or alterations to, buildings, structures, or facilities to continue their usability at the designed level of service. Each Job Order shall have at least 51% of the work within the advertised license classification specified herein. Work outside said license classification may be self-performed by Contractor when said work is considered incidental and supplemental to the performance of the work in the craft for which the specialty contractor is licensed and is essential to the accomplishment of the work in which the contractor is classified. In such cases, the value of said incidental and supplemental work shall not exceed 5% of the Job Order Sum. If the work outside the Contractor’s license classification exceeds 5% of the Job Order Sum, then Contractor must either hold the appropriate additional specialty license classification or subcontract the work to an appropriately licensed subcontractor. Refer to Exhibit 21 of the bidding documents for work excluded from this UPJO. The total combined cost for all Job Orders issued will not exceed the Maximum Contract Value of $2,000,000.00 during the 1-year Base Term and $2,000,000.00 during each 1-year Option Term, if exercised by University. When the work of a job consists only of the trade of this UPJO, the cost of any individual Job Order Authorization will be from $1,000.00 to $500,000.00. When the work of a job consists of multiple trades, the cost of any individual Job Order Authorization for this UPJO will be from $1,000.00 to $500,000.00. Contractor shall renovate the interior of Knudsen Hall, a nine story 92,893 asf (164,702 gsf) lab and office building (including two basement levels and one rooftop level) constructed in 1963, to construct a Quantum Physics Research Lab. This proposed project involves renovations to Rooms 1210, 2208, 2216, and 2222 on the first and second floors, which comprise approximately 2,300 (2,545 gsf) of academic space, to create new lab uses including a measurement room, an optics lab, a packaging room, and a cleanroom with gowning and support areas. This will also require the installation of an acoustic enclosure in room 1226. A general demolition of the project area has been completed, and the space is ready for new construction. The project scope includes upgrades to the building’s mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to address the lab’s power and process chilled water requirements, and upgrades to the fire and life safety systems. These improvements complement the previously approved Phase 1 renovation of Rooms 1216 and 1226 (Project No. 940023) to complete the Quantum Physics Research Lab. The cost of all necessary labor, material, equipment, access, debris removal, supplies, and supervision required to complete the work per the contract documents and as noted below: The Demolition scope will include, but is not limited to, removal and disposal of various structural and building components, including slab-on-grade concrete, elevated concrete, site concrete, asphalt, fencing, ceilings, walls, MEPF systems, casework, roofing and insulation for the installation of the bond beam, and brick. The Finish Protection scope will include the set-up, tear-down and maintenance of the walls and floor protection. All scaffolding and equipment required to perform the work in this bid package shall be provided by this subcontractor unless specifically noted. Include debris boxes for the full scope duration. Include protection of surrounding finishes for demolition. The Trade Contractor is responsible for coordinating with Plant Construction and all other subcontractors, particularly the MEP and Salvage contractors. It will also require multiple coordination meetings with the project architect, structural engineer, Plant, and various State and UCLA Agencies. This is an occupied building and a phased project. Multiple mobilizations are required per the contract documents and project schedule.
