RRUMC Nurse Call Replacement
|
||
Project Number |
944108.01 | ||
Project Description |
Subject to conditions prescribed by the University of California, Los Angeles, sealed bids for a lump sum contract from prequalified bidders are invited for the following work:
UCLA Health Facilities Department proposes to replace the obsolete Rauland Responder IV nurse call system in the Ronald Reagan Hospital (RRUMC). RRUMC is an eleven-story, 556,535 asf (1.2 million gsf) hospital facility constructed in 2007. The existing nurse call system is at the end of its useful life, and replacement parts are no longer available. Failure to replace the existing system could compromise patient safety, delay emergency responses due to nurses not receiving notifications of patient medical emergencies, and result in an overall breakdown in hospital operations. The new nurse call system will improve response times to patient emergencies, reduce operational disruptions, and allow RRUMC to continue to provide state-of-the-art healthcare to its patients using the most advanced technologies. The scope of work includes: • Decommissioning of the existing Rauland Responder IV nurse call system throughout RRUMC, including disconnecting and removing Rauland nurse call buttons, consoles, and wall-mounted and bedside units. • Upgrades and modifications to the existing low-voltage electrical systems, including installation of new receptacles, network cabling, conduits, and nurse call stations. • Installation of new Hill-Rom (Baxter) nurse call system components in patient rooms, bathrooms, hallways, and nurse stations, including new nurse call buttons near each patient bed, wall-mounted devices, consoles, display panels, and corridor and over-door lights. • Integration with other hospital systems, including alarm systems, paging and communication systems, electronic health records, and fire life safety systems. • Upgrade of communication consoles within individual distribution frame rooms. • Testing and commissioning of all new Hill-Rom system components, including safety and compliance and back-up power testing. • Servers, handsets with pillow speaker buttons, and nurse call information technology software and hardware will be procured separately. • Due to the operational nature of the hospital, staging and sequencing will be carefully planned and executed by nursing units and floors to minimize disruption to patient care.
